Justin Timberlake

The big concert is over and considered a success, the newspapers did grumble about Toronto's less than warm welcome for Justin Timberlake (you know, that boy band singer). But really, I mean the guy cannot sing, he has to understand that. To his credit though, most of the audience were Stones & AC/DC fans, so it wasnt suprising he was boo'ed and had stuff thrown at him.
Note the water bottle whizzing by...

I have added him to the crappy actors list, Im really not sure if he ever acted in a movie, but we shouldn't take any chances with this guy..consider it a preemptive maneuver.

Sarsstock

I guess most of you know that Toronto was hit pretty hard with the SARS Virus. Today in an effort to rejuvinate the city, The Rolling Stones & AC/DC headlined "Sarstock" The Show got underway about 3pm and the Stones wrap it up appearing tonight at 9pm.

I am not really a huge fan of the Stones, nor ACDC for that matter, but they do both have a couple of songs I like. "Miss You" is one of my faves, but the Stones announced that Justin Timberlake will come on stage to help them perform it! Ugh... Im really not into large crowds in the hot sun so I did not bother to attend, but will watch tonight on tv.

Blogless for a week

I suppose I should be more diligent, and keep adding a blog a day, I have had a rather busy week though and to top it all off, I had to reinstall Debian on my desktop. It was ugly...I wanted to install and run vmare on it, however since my existing kernel was built with an older version of gcc than the version of gcc that I currently had, it failed, so me thinking I was all smart, decided to recompile my kernel. (This is something I'd never done before) Anyhow, the actuall proccess isnt that difficult, but selecting all the correct modules is very hard , three times I did the menuconfig and each time came up with no networking, the card module was loaded ok but for some reason couldnt see the router. Finall I gave up and reinstalled the entire system. No more kernel voodoo for little miss smarty pants

I will, when time permits add a side thingy to this page to show you what book im currently reading, as im sort of a bookworm. Also, my roomates and I keep a list on the fridge, its called the "crappy actor" list. You know when your sitting there and a movie comes on, your like "yaay, I would enjoy watching a movie now" but as the credits open, you see some actor, and right away, you know its a crappy movie, just cos that actor's in it. I will add this list to my blog, perhaps with the ability for people to add to it I will leave you with some examples

  • Lou Diamond Phillips
  • Steven Segal (at Chestal's request)
  • Eric Roberts
  • Dolph Lundgren
  • Pauly Shore
  • "Joey" from 'Friends'(acutally, pretty much any actor from 'Freinds'

More cool software....

It must be my week for neat software, I found out about Vmware Workstation today and downloaded the 30 day demo. You can basically install and run one operating system into another already running operating system, So, I happened to be using my Linux notebook and decided to install WinXP into Linux. Now I dont need to use Wine or even to reboot into Windows to run windows apps...yaay!

Beware of admin keys!

So you've all probably discovered in the new client that the "o" key brings up a list of admin functions which you can then side scroll through to bring up whatever command your seeking...well by default, the first command in the list is the old /lagstats...so..I was on ducati today and playing away, but forgot I had logged in and had admin priv's..I noticed a shot or two "pass through" someone and pressed "o" followed by "enter while still playing, intending to check the lagstats next time I got killed...

Suddenly I noticed that instead of 8 players there were only 7 now, then I looked down and saw ".....added to banlist"!!!! So basically I had banned someone earlier and the default for "o" was now set to /ban.....ugh...well guess who I banned?.... Yep...Chestal! Then I notice a window pop up on my irc client with the words.. "huh?!"...some apologizing then ensued..so be careful with those admin keys!!
