Create a web gallery of GCI splash screen designs #3BRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete: 100 hrs Mentors: Ishwerdas, Ch3ckTags: web, gallery, php, showcase

We've had a lot of awesome splash screen design submissions this year. We'd like to see them showcased so they may all be easily compared.

Download all of the submitted designs (note that some tasks uploaded zip files with multiple designs) and create a web page that showcases them roughly the same size and organized per user. Doesn't have to be anything complicated or fancy but you do have to include all splash screen designs for this year.

If you know a little bit of coding, you might want to use/modify this tool to automatically download them all: https://www.google-melange.com/gci/task/view/google/gci2013/5807450632486912

Create a web page that displays each splash screen design. Include the name of the author with each design and a link to the GCI task.

Upload a zip file that includes your web page and images. You're welcome to use any languages, but the end-result will ideally be something we can unzip and open in a browser.

Sean on January 12 2015 06:24 UTCgci links?

Marc, I just noticed that the links back to the GCI pages are missing.  Still want to have those so we can get at the original files, look at the comments, get the raw working files, etc.

This is looking great!

Marc Tannouson January 12 2015 06:25 UTCWill do

Leaving for school now, will add these as soon as I get home.

Marc

Added links to all the splash screens. The other categories do not have links yet, but they will be added in the next version (am at school atm) . At the moment, I think this task is complete.

Marc

Maybe it's only me but I can't click on the links to Melange.

Marc Tannouson January 12 2015 08:48 UTCthey are not supposed to br

Lightbox is all wrapped in a big a href which on click toggles the modal window, and I cannot wrap another a tag around the link because it would not work. That is one downside of lightbox.

Marc Tannouson January 12 2015 13:40 UTCWorkaround

Found a workaround, linking the name of the author to the task. Nested a elements are not working cross-browser, so this is a solution that does. Uploading it atm.

Marc Tannouson January 12 2015 14:00 UTCSubmitted

Now every work has its students name above it, and on click opens its corresponding task. Throughout all the categories implemented at the moment, everything works and opens in new tab ( for fast evaluation and ease of use ). All around, this is very nice UX-wise and is hand-coded, if that matters.

Marc
