Create a do's and don'ts for GSoCBRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete: 100 hrs Mentors: Hardeep Singh Rai, Gauravjeet SinghTags: artwork, guidelines, design, website

This is a follow-on task to https://www.google-melange.com/gci/task/view/google/gci2014/5606080990150656

Every year we participate in the Google Summer of Code, we have to tell students about how to participate. There are a variety of tips and suggestions we repeatedly make.

This task involves coming up with a useful summary of things to do and not do when participating in GSoC. Note that there are three timeframes and the recommendations for each of those timeframes is different: 1) selecting an organization/project/topic, 2) creating a proposal, and 3) participation during GSoC.

You only need to cover one of them. We can create separate tasks for the other two or you can make sure your template is trivially extended by others.

The guy who designed the split screen concept here,

These are the files for the first part, "1) selecting an organization/project/topic",

will submit the rest after this one receives feedback.

Regards,

Marc

I loved this design, just some simple tweaks I could think of

The line below Do's or Don'ts is not in center

Now when I open Do's or Don'ts, I have to click on small arrow to get back. It would be great if I go back to the main page by clicking the complete left sidebar in case of Don'ts and right sidebar in case of Do's.

Rest I would love if you can apply some rules of typography in content. Read the following link for more understanding of what I meant by rules of typography

It's a bit lengthy article, but it's worth reading.

1) The line is centered, I can guarantee that as I have the CSS in front of me, tried it on all possible resolutions and is centered.

2) Unfortunately, to do that I would need to re-write a lot of code, because the whole system works on z-indexes, and the "whole sidebar" is actually way below at the moment and unclickable. Maybe part of another task?

3) Regarding typography, is there anything specific you would like me to change? I've spent a while on margin, padding font size and line height to ensure readability at all screen dimensions ( because this is a key feature : responsiveness, the page needs to be readable both on a desktop pc and on a small mobile phone ).
