This is a follow-on of http://www.google-melange.com/gci/task/view/google/gci2014/5546966268248064

The write-up is basic, but is a little opaque in its current form. We'd like to improve it with a simple understandable example, like creating a box and then putting a hole through the box.

Update the tutorial on http://brlcad.org/wiki/NMG to have the example 1) show steps for creating a box or other simple shape, 2) show that shape as an rt and wireframe rendering, 3) show additional steps for making a hole through the shape, and 4) show that shape as an rt and wireframe rendering.

I would like to work on this task.

This task has been assigned to Andromeda Galaxy. You have 100 hours to complete this task, good luck!

Andromeda Galaxyon December 17 2014 02:47 UTCNo 'rt' screenshots

Unfortunately, 'rt' crashed (stack corruption) on every nmg that I tried, all of which seemed to be valid --- both from my understanding of the format and from the fact that MGED rendered wireframes flawlessly.  I have therefore for now included only the MGED wireframes in the wiki page.

The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.

Sean on December 17 2014 04:58 UTCalmost certainly not valid

It's very likely that there's either something invalid in the description, but it's a bug regardless if you end up with any crash.  That's task-worthy in itself to diagnose and fix if you're so inclined.  Regardless, this is a much better NMG example now, thanks!
