Design a web page that overviews the BRL-CAD contributors #4BRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete: 100 hrs Mentors: Jacob B, Ch3ckTags: web, javascript, js, html, design, css

BRL-CAD wants to encourage new developers and give credit to existing ones. A page on the wesbsite that gives details on the core contributors can help new developers learn the community and encouraging their participation.

We are interested in seeing concepts for what this page will look like. Concepts should be consistent with our existing (new) website design which you can see at http://cpp-tricks.com/brlcad/ or http://beta.brlcad.org/wp/

The task is to design a web based hall of fame where we'll be able to itemize each core developer with biographic information (e.g., their name, IRC nick and types of contributions they've made).

You may use any language or technology, (e.g., HTML+CSS, Javascript, WP plugin, etc), but a working webpage mockup is preferred. Submit your design in a raw editable form. Include a PNG screenshot of the design along with your editable files.

This task has been assigned to Marc Tannous. You have 100 hours to complete this task, good luck!

Marc Tannouson December 6 2014 10:49 UTCWhy not a list?

Every example you gave consisted of lists of people, seemed very bland to my eye.

So I twisted it up a bit, and went for my own crazy hall of fame. A gallery of all contributors, which shows a short bio of each of them ( could give name, irc , contributions there ) and on click you can write entire paragraphs about them, add pictures of them or their work, because it's all a responsive gallery. It looks like a photo panel, which I really dig, and fits both small time contributors and the big ones. The small contributors could just have their photo in there, and something like "Participated in the Google Summer of Code" or stuff along that line, while the owners could have paragraphs about theirselves, but everyone being showcased.

An issue would be lack of photos for some contributors. No problem, just add a mock picture, like a head with a question mark and mention their names. They are still there, but they don't have a picture.

I consider it an interesting concept, hope you agree with me that this looks better than the usual horizontal list that never ends.

Also, the pictures are google images, mozilla contributors, me zuckerberg and some john does, simply for mock-up purposes.

Regards,

Marc
