Animate our logo! #7BRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete: 100 hrs Mentors: Ishwerdas, DishankTags: animation, 2D, logo, design, graphics

We have a logo inspired by interlocked nodes (like a bike chain). We'd like to see some concepts of how it might be animated. Use your creativity and make something we can either use on our website, or maybe even use as a "loading..." or progress bar animation.

Create 2D or 3D animated version of our logo. Submit an animated gif preview as well as any raw higher-resolution working files you used.

Sean on December 10 2014 05:22 UTCinteresting but chunky

Very interesting concept, but a few issues noticed.  First, it's HUGE... :)  Maybe submit a small icon-sized preview animation (e.g 64px square) in addition to a huge / raw working version.  Second, the version of the logo that you started with is asymmetric which is what is causing the center link to arc towards the right when going up and down instead of it just going straight up and down.  Perhaps that's something you can stabilize manually.  Lastly, the animation is very jumpy with only 8 frames.  That might work more smoothly at a smaller size (might not), but I would recommend about twice as many frames.

Nice work on maintaining a transparent background!  It would probably look better with solid white interior for the pins, though.

If you like, you could try to use our recent sticker rendering for this:  http://brlcad.org/gci/logo/

We have other GCI tasks to reduce the pin size and re-render the animations, but nobody has yet completed any of them.  Maybe something that might interest you given you r design ability.

Can you please comment the links so that I can subscribe to such tasks? I was trying to find designing logos and I only found this one. I am interested in other such tasks.

Thanks

I will add white colour inside the pins but I will keep the transparent background and post both the raw and the final reduced version too.

Thanks once again.

I'm not sure what more to add or how to improve. Please can you help?

hackerboyon December 10 2014 17:15 UTCSubmission

'BRL square64' is the 64 x 64 version

'BRL square256' is the 256 x 256 version

'BRL3 white in' is the raw version

Just writing this for clarification
