We have transcriptions of an early geometric model in the COMGEOM format (a now obsolete format, but the models are interesting nonetheless). These files contain the data, but not formatted in a fashion that BRL-CAD's comgeom-g importer will accept.
This task is to attempt to reformat the data transcribed from the original PDF report (see the files here) in such a way that BRL-CAD's comgeom-g import tool will successfully import them. Some work has already been done - see this file for progress made to date.
The deliverables are 1) the successfully imported .g file (look at the drawings in the original report to confirm that the geometry imported by the comgeom-g tool looks right) and the instructions on how to format the data for input. If scripts are used provide those - if a manual process was needed describe what was done.

Can you give me a rough idea about how to go about this task?
Take the files generated in the mentioned task (the CSV tables) and generated a .g file with the comgeom-g program. This probably doesn't work. So you have to make changes to these files to make the import work. Make these changes, describe what you did and provide us the generated .g file.
I would like to work on this task.
This task has been assigned to Andromeda Galaxy. You have 100 hours to complete this task, good luck!
The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
The file ADA073408.g (produced by a run of createfile.sh on the original files from the previous task) is the result of an apparently successful import by comgeom-g. In MGED, viewing a wireframe of the object appears to show the same geometry as is shown in the renderings in the original report; however, when raytracing with 'rt' a few of the objects that are rendered correctly in MGED are not shown. I tried changing the region code and los percent for all regions to ones that I knew rendered correctly, but that didn't help; I'm fairly certain that the given .g file is an accurate conversion of the solids from the comgeom report (especially since in MGED they render as correct wireframes).
Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.
