Design a web page that overviews the BRL-CAD contributors #5BRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete: 100 hrs Mentors: Gauravjeet Singh, IshwerdasTags: web, javascript, js, html, design, css

BRL-CAD wants to encourage new developers and give credit to existing ones. A page on the wesbsite that gives details on the core contributors can help new developers learn the community and encouraging their participation.

We are interested in seeing concepts for what this page will look like. Concepts should be consistent with our existing (new) website design which you can see at http://cpp-tricks.com/brlcad/ or http://beta.brlcad.org/wp/

The task is to design a web based hall of fame where we'll be able to itemize each core developer with biographic information (e.g., their name, IRC nick and types of contributions they've made).

You may use any language or technology, (e.g., HTML+CSS, Javascript, WP plugin, etc), but a working webpage mockup is preferred. Submit your design in a raw editable form. Include a PNG screenshot of the design along with your editable files.

Do I need to make an entire website or just a page featuring the contributors.

Gauravjeet Singh on December 5 2014 18:35 UTCJust the contributors page

Hey Devin, you just have to make the contributors page.

P.S. Also the reference to logo was missing from the task description so here we go, check out the following link for logo.

By a working webpage mockup do you mean an image or an html file with links and the information? Also, do I need to add all of the contributors from each of the links?

Ishwerdas on December 6 2014 06:16 UTCOutput Format

Hey Devin,

You can either provide set of images showing a responsive design in 3 form factors (mobile, desktop and tablet) or you can create one responsive html/css/js mockup. No, you don't need to add contributors from all those pages, just add any of the 10-12 contributors from anywhere. If you can do it from Authors file http://brlcad.org/xref/source/AUTHORS that would be great, but we don't have images for them. We just want design that we can later incorporate in our wordpress theme, it needs not to be 100% correct with regard to content.

Thanks!

Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.

Devin, thank you for working this.  It's very thought-provoking.  I particularly like the desktop layout with Mike's comment in the corner.  Took me a little by surprise, but exceptionally appropriate.  If you're interested, I'd love to see this mocked up as an actual html page with all our contributors added.  Keep an eye out for the task addition or let me know if that is something that would be of interest.

That would be great. The only thing is that I am not the greatest at responsive web design, but it would be a good chance to learn.

What is the task name?
