BRL-CAD's new modeling interface, archer, displays a splash screen when you start the program. This is what it currently looks like:

There are several problems with that image. It uses our old logo. It references the wrong website. It has a massive pointless ""icon"". It proclaim's archer being trademarked (distracting).
Your task is to design a completely new splash screen that has none of those problems, is visually interesting, optionally incorporates our new logo, and optionally references our main website (brlcad.org).
Check out some of the other design tasks for inspiration. Make yours look even more impressive, artistically interesting. ;)
Submit your image in whatever raw working format you use (e.g., psd), preferably something with layers in case we need to change anything, but also submit a final png image as well.

Hey Andrew, you can do the following things to make your design look more better.
The background image is blurred and also stretched, so have some high resolution image, and also maintain the aspect ratio of the image.
Also the BRL-CAD logo is not of high quality, get high quality logo from the following link http://brlcad.org/wiki/Logo
Having said that, you need to widen your mind, think of something creative. Force people to say that this is "the awesome design", I can help you in doing that. A quick suggestion from my side, it's not mandatory to keep the splash screen rectangular you can have something of any other shape too. ;)

Thank you for your splash screen design. I'm not sure, though .. it makes me want to PARTY ... not work on 3D modeling. ;-)
I don't think including a byline would add much value to this design. What I think would help, though is a different background that has some relation to CAD and/or 3D graphics.
For example, you currently have a lot of "sphere-like" shapes made with a image editing program like Photoshop. It would have been perfect had those spheres actually been modeled using BRL-CAD. Still, the background doesn't have to be something you create. Perhaps you could use a (very) zoomed in portion of some rendering we have in our gallery: http://brlcad.org/gallery/
