Create a web based interactive timeline giving historical tour of BRL-CADBRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete:
72 hrs
Mentors: Sean
BRL-CAD has history of decades. It would be great to show that history in form of an interactive timeline.
You can do it using any web technology you are comfortable with. I would prefer something like http://plugins.jquery.com/b1njTimeline/ to ease your work. It should be interactive, I should be able to browse through and click on dates and get the details of the events. The color scheme used should be in consistent with the website design. Usage of appropriate imagery would be preferred.

I would like to work on this task.
This task has been assigned to Sam. You have 72 hours to complete this task, good luck!
Hi, I have a question. Where may I be able to find information about the history of BRL-CAD? The only source I could find was Wikipedia. Is there any document I may refer to in building the timeline? Thank you :)
Hi Sean, it would be great if I could receive a reply as soon as possible so that I can work on the task more efficiently. As of now, the only source I can refer to for the history of BRL-CAD is the site itself and Wikipedia, both of which only provide minimal information in building a timeline. May I aks if there are any other sources of information that I may refer to? Thank you.

The history of BRL-CAD is in many places. There is our main history page on the website:
http://brlcad.org/d/about
There's numerous documentation events:
http://brlcad.org/wiki/Early_Raytracing_History
There's our release notes file:
http://svn.code.sf.net/p/brlcad/code/brlcad/trunk/NEWS
There's a slew of posted announcements on our mailing list and main website:
http://brlcad.org
This I was all able to find via Google with just a couple obvious search terms. If it was all in one convenient place, this task wouldn't have been useful...
One of the mentors has sent this task back for more work. Talk to the mentor(s) assigned to this task to satisfy the requirements needed to complete this task, submit your work again and mark the task as complete once you re-submit your work.
not to misunderstand, you're definitely on the right track and made fantastic progress. You just need to find/include a few more significant events. You got the "big" ones, but there are many other notable ones worth including.
The deadline of the task has been extended with 0 days and 12 hours.
The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
Hi, Google Code-In doesn't allow deleting of files after they have been uploaded, so I have uploaded my entry as a new zip file titled "Site (Amended)". Thus, do ignore the other file as it is not updated. Thank you.
Hope my work is satisfactory this time. Thank you.
Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.
Fantastic! That is awesome Sam, nicely done. The new timeline is much more informative, useful, interesting, cool. If you join our news mailing list, you may see an announcement when we put a version of your timeline into use on our website (with credits to you of course): https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/brlcad-news
Thanks! I have subscribed to the news mailing list. Looking forward to working with you again :)
