Create an RTWizard screenshotBRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete: 48 hrs Mentors: SeanTags: screenshot, GUI

Everyone loves to see screenshots of software in action. We use screenshots in our marketing and outreach. See some of the examples below that we already have.

Create an awesome screenshot of our rtwizard tool in action. It should be graphically interesting and give some sense of capability.  Don't just pick the most basic mode, pick one of the more complicated multi-pass renderings and showcase the entire interface.

References:

Note that we have several screenshot tasks.  Note you may have to go through some or our basic MGED tutorials (see docs section on our website) just to be able to display geometry.  Finally, give others a chance if you already completed one of the other screenshot tasks. ;)

Sean on December 2 2012 15:17 UTCthat's not rtwizard

You made a screenshot of 'mged', but that's the wrong application.  This task specifies making a screenshot of the 'rtwizard' tool.  That's a different application.  You'll also want something a little more interesting than a cylinder.. ;)

Sean on December 2 2012 18:33 UTCproblem with your shift key?

Are you having some problem with your shift key?  You should only capitalize the first letter of a sentence and proper nouns (someone's name).

There are a couple dozen example databases installed within the share/brlcad directory, but I suggest you download a model (e.g., from grabcad.com) and import it into BRL-CAD.

hello :)
I am a 3d designer and I would like to know  can I import a model in BRL CAD from 3ds max

Sean on December 4 2012 21:04 UTCalmost there

Almost there.  Note this in the original description:  "Don't just pick the most basic mode, pick one of the more complicated multi-pass renderings and showcase the entire interface."

The screenshot looks great, though I would suggest dropping the console window so you can emphasize the main rtwizad window better.  Showing all four panels isn't necessary or useful, so maybe just show one of them like azimuth.

You can import a model from 3ds max, but you'll have to export to one of the numerous formats that we will import.
