Set up StatSVNBRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete: 48 hrs Mentors: SeanTags: statsvn, apache, PHP, subversion

BRL-CAD's Subversion repository is the oldest open source repository on the planet and we love statistics. A decade ago, we used to run a little tool called StatCVS that gave pretty graphs of commit activity. When we converted to Subversion, a comparable tool didn't exist but now there are several and we want to try them out. We'll set you up with an account on our web server.

This task involves running the latest version of StatSVN on our repository, providing the output, and providing instructions for running it again so we can keep the output up to date. You may need to normalize the results if StatSVN has the same bug that StatCVS used to have if the line counts are incorrect, but hopefully not.

Sean on November 29 2012 15:34 UTCset it up and run it

The task involves setting up statsvn and running it on the BRL-CAD Subversion source code repository.  They have documentation on how to do that.  You'll submit a folder with files (output from statsvn) that can be viewed in a browser along with instructions/details from you on what specifically you did to make that output.

I submit My Works.

But Deadline Extended....? Why..?

Sean on November 30 2012 18:30 UTCtroubles

I'm having trouble downloading your .zip file.  It looks like it might be a bug in the melange web interface, perhaps because of the large file size.  Is what'sin the zip the same as what's at that URL?  That URL doesn't look like it has anything to do with BRL-CAD.

Melange on December 1 2012 01:04 UTCNo more Work can be submitted

Melange has detected that the deadline has passed and no more work can be submitted. The submitted work should be reviewed.

Su Chang koon December 1 2012 08:09 UTCQuestion.

If it is right, My PC is Working This SVN. But It is so Slow Because So Large Data..

I can't upload More Work File. So... Can I submit URL(http://ko9459.cafe24~) after Converting StatSVN?

Forgive me for being late...

One of the mentors has sent this task back for more work. Talk to the mentor(s) assigned to this task to satisfy the requirements needed to complete this task, submit your work again and mark the task as complete once you re-submit your work.

Sean on December 1 2012 08:16 UTCupload correct url

You should be able to upload the correct URL now.  A bug has been submitted regarding the large file download.

You have the correct URL for BRL-CAD's repository.  Note you will probably want to run svnsync to get a local copy of the entire repository so that statsvn isn't doing everything over the network.

Su Chang koon December 1 2012 08:36 UTCThank you for consideration.

Processing StatSVN is So long time (Estimate Time is After 8hours..)

So, commands have been uploaded first.

BRL-CAD Repo is So big data...

Sean on December 1 2012 08:50 UTCsvnsync

That's why I suggested using svnsync. Accessing our large repository repeatedly over the network is probably what makes it so slow.  If you run synsync, the repository will be local, checkout will be fast, and statsvn should be able to process much much faster.

Su Chang koon December 1 2012 09:07 UTCThanks For help

I attempt to use svnsync.

so faster than General "svn checkout" command! Thank you!

But, Statsvn.jar processing speed is slow.

I think there seems to be associated with the processing speed of the system.

Sean on December 4 2012 06:15 UTClooks good

There are definitely some options I'd want to include, like ignoring all of our src/other hierarchy (our 3rd party sources skew the results in a major way), but you've certainly shown what is possible.  How long did it take to process the entire history?

Sean on December 4 2012 06:15 UTCTask Closed

Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.
