Model a A using BRL-CADBRL-CAD
Status: ClosedTime to complete:
48 hrs
Mentors: Sean
Create an uppercase letter "A" geometry model using BRL-CAD. You can use the mged or archer geometry editor tools or write a script. The model should be roughly 1000mm tall, about 500mm wide, and about 100mm deep. Create it using CSG or other methods, but it cannot be an imported model, polygonal mesh (BOT, NMG), or extruded bitmap (EBM). It should be free of modeling errors (no overlaps, run "rtcheck" to verify). It should have interesting shader properties set (suggest stack+plastic+texture), default shader will not be accepted. Provide the .g geometry file and a 1024x1024 rendering at a "ae 35 25" view to show what it looks like. References:

I would like to work on this task.
This task has been assigned to Andrei Tudorica. You have 48 hours to complete this task, good luck!
how do I save the rendering (1240x1240)?

One of the mentors has sent this task back for more work. Talk to the mentor(s) assigned to this task to satisfy the requirements needed to complete this task, submit your work again and mark the task as complete once you re-submit your work.
You can save the image however you like.
You can capture a screenshot or render directly to a file (put a filename for the output).
The easiest way is to run this on the command line from within MGED:
rt -s1024 a.png

Andrei,
You work is really appreciable, but default shader will not work. Go to 'combination editor' panel from 'Edit' menu and you will see a shader button. Just make it more shiny, for example apply a texture or checker pattern or camo etc.
Make it look interesting and you'll be done. :)
Where can I find the stacker option in the 7.22 version of BRL-CAD?
Go to edit menu, select the combniation editor, a dialog box will open. Click on button at the right side of Name, select 'Select From All' and select your object. Then click on show shader and click on the button at the right side of Shader and select stack.
To use stacker, you need to click on add shader button and select one of the options which further asks for various sub options.
I would recommend to simply select testmap or cloud or mirror or any other and raytrace the model with nice background to complete the task. That's it. :)
The deadline of the task has been extended with 0 days and 12 hours.
what does "nice bacground" mean? I made a blue glass model with 0.7 transparency and 0.1 mirror reflectance... i may put some arb8's near it or something.... what do you think?
The work on this task is ready to be reviewed.
By background, I mean to say only background color, nothing else. Objects other than that of 'A' will not be accepted. However, blue glass model of A is good.
So, remove the arb8s and finish the task. :)
done:)
Congratulations, this task has been completed successfully.
