TGF-G(1)
NAME
tgf-g - convert an INTAVAL Target Geometry File to a BRL-CAD database
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
tgf-g converts geometry described by an INTAVAL Target Geometry File (TGF) into a BRL-CAD database (.g) file. INTAVAL is a vulnerability/lethality analysis code, and its target descriptions are split across two input files: a material file and a geometry file. Both are read by tgf-g and combined into a single output database, which is force-created (any existing file at that path is overwritten).
The various INTAVAL box and form primitives are mapped onto BRL-CAD primitives as follows: a Long Form becomes a solid-mode bag of triangles (bot); a Two-Point Box becomes a rectangular parallelepiped (arb8); a Three-Point Box becomes a truncated right circular cone (trc); a Five-Point Box becomes a right circular cylinder (rcc); an Eight-Point Box becomes an arbitrary eight-vertex polyhedron (arb8); a Zero-Point Box translates the previous solid; a One-Point Box and a Minus One-Point Box become a pipe; and Minus N-Point, Ring Mode, and CAD Type boxes become plate- or solid-mode bags of triangles (bot). Material assignments from the material file are written out as BRL-CAD regions.
All three arguments are mandatory and positional. The first argument is the INTAVAL material file, the second is the INTAVAL geometry file, and the third is the BRL-CAD database to create.
EXAMPLES
tgf-g tank.mat tank.geo tank.g
mged tank.g 'ls'
Convert the INTAVAL material file tank.mat and geometry file tank.geo into a new BRL-CAD database tank.g, then list the resulting regions and primitives with mged(1) to confirm the converted geometry.
