raw-g _RAW_file_ _database.g_
RAW-G(1)
NAME
raw-g - convert a RAW triangle geometry file to a BRL-CAD database
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
raw-g reads an IABG RAW geometry file (an ASCII listing of named objects, each followed by triangles given as nine whitespace-separated coordinates per line) and writes the result to a new BRL-CAD database.g file.
Each named object in the input becomes a single BOT (Bag of Triangles) primitive and region in the output database. By default the triangles are written as a solid (volumetric) BOT. If an object’s name line carries a *thickf=*value attribute, that object is instead written as a plate-mode BOT whose faces are given the specified thickness, which is convenient for representing thin shell geometry.
The first argument names the input RAW file and the second names the output database, which is created with a title of the form "Converted from <RAW_file>". A summary of the conversion is printed when it completes. The resulting geometry can be inspected with mged(1) or further processed with other BRL-CAD converters such as g-raw(1).
EXAMPLES
raw-g hull.raw hull.g
mged hull.g
Converts the triangle data in hull.raw into solid BOT regions inside the new database hull.g, then opens the result in mged(1) for viewing and editing.
