PIX-PS(1)
NAME
pix-ps - convert a color pix file to PostScript
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
pix-ps reads a color pix(5) format image and writes a 24-bit color PostScript image to standard output. The input may be named on the command line or supplied on standard input.
The -w and -n options set the input width and number of scan lines in pixels; -s sets both at once. If no input size is given, defaults of 512 are assumed.
By default the output is a 6.75 inch square centered on an 8.5 x 11 inch page. The -S, -W, and -N options change the output size in inches, analogous to the input options. The -l option places the image in the lower-left corner instead of centering it, and -L selects landscape orientation. An Encapsulated PostScript file, sized in pixels rather than inches, can be produced with -e.
OPTIONS
- -e
-
Produce an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file. The bounding box is sized in pixels and the page placement options (-c, -l, -L) are ignored.
- -c
-
Center the image on an 8.5 x 11 inch page. This is the default.
- -l
-
Place the image in the lower-left corner of the page rather than centering it.
- -L
-
Landscape orientation; rotate the output image ninety degrees.
- -s input_squaresize
-
Set both the input width and height to input_squaresize pixels.
- -w input_width
-
Set the input width to input_width pixels (default 512).
- -n input_height
-
Set the number of input scan lines to input_height pixels (default 512).
- -S inches_square
-
Set both the output width and height to inches_square inches.
- -W inches_width
-
Set the output width to inches_width inches (default 6.75).
- -N inches_height
-
Set the output height to inches_height inches (default 6.75).
EXAMPLES
pix-ps image.pix > image.ps
Produces a 6.75 inch PostScript image from a 512x512 input and centers it on an 8.5 x 11 inch page, ready to send to a PostScript printer.
rt -s 1024 -o /dev/stdout share/db/moss.g all.g | pix-ps -w 1024 -n 1024 -L -S 7 > moss.ps
Ray traces the moss.g model at 1024x1024, pipes the resulting pix(5) data into pix-ps, and writes a 7 inch square landscape PostScript image.
pix-ps -e -w 800 -n 600 plot.pix > plot.eps
Creates an Encapsulated PostScript version of an 800x600 image, suitable for inclusion as a figure in a larger document.
