GASTANK(1)
NAME
gastank - create a BRL-CAD .g file containing gas tanks
On this page
SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
gastank creates a BRL-CAD geometry database (*.g) containing one or more solid gas tanks with all edges and corners rounded. Each tank is centered at the origin and built from 3 arb8s, 8 spheres, and 12 cylinders combined into 23 regions and a single group. All dimensions are in millimeters. Up to 256 identically-sized tanks may be created in one run.
The tanks are modeled as solid (the internal volume is not hollowed out), so the result is suitable for radar signature work but not for applications that require the tank interior to be represented.
If invoked with no arguments, gastank runs interactively and prompts for the output file name, the number of tanks, their height, width, and depth, and the corner radius. Otherwise all parameters are taken from the command-line options below; any value not supplied defaults to 0. The resulting database can be inspected or rendered with tools such as mged(1) and rt(1).
OPTIONS
- -h
-
Print a usage message and exit. -? behaves the same way.
- -f name.g
-
Name of the output BRL-CAD database to create. The value must be appended directly to the flag (for example -fgastank.g). Defaults to gastank.g in interactive mode.
- -n #
-
Number of gas tanks to create. Clamped to the range 1 to 256.
- -H #
-
Height of the gas tank in millimeters.
- -w #
-
Width of the gas tank in millimeters.
- -d #
-
Depth of the gas tank in millimeters.
- -r #
-
Radius of the rounded corners in millimeters.
EXAMPLES
gastank -ftank.g -n1 -H300 -w200 -d400 -r30
rt -s 1024 -o tank.png tank.g tnka
The first command writes a single 300 x 200 x 400 mm gas tank with 30 mm rounded corners to tank.g. Because the options are concatenated with their values (no spaces), gastank parses them directly. The second command raytraces the resulting top-level group tnka into the image tank.png.
