BOMBARDIER(1)

NAME

bombardier - BRL-CAD graphical crash reporter

On this page

SYNOPSIS

bombardier [-h | -?] _logfile_...

DESCRIPTION

bombardier is the BRL-CAD crash reporter. It reads one or more crash logfile arguments, concatenates their contents, and presents a Tk graphical dialog showing the captured crash details and system information. The user can add a description of what they were doing and choose to submit the report to the BRL-CAD developers at brlcad.org so the stack trace can be reviewed.

If a logfile contains a line beginning with Command:, the token that follows is used as the name of the application that crashed and is shown in the dialog. A logfile argument that does not exist is reported as a warning and skipped. At least one logfile must be supplied.

bombardier is normally launched automatically by other BRL-CAD applications such as mged(1) when they terminate unexpectedly, rather than invoked by hand.

OPTIONS

-h

Print a brief usage message and exit.

-?

Example 1. Reviewing and submitting a crash log
bombardier ~/.brlcad/crash/mged-crash.log

Opens the crash reporter dialog populated with the contents of mged-crash.log, allowing the stack trace and system information to be reviewed, annotated, and submitted to the developers.

Example 2. Combining multiple log files into one report
bombardier mged-crash.log rt-crash.log session-env.log

Loads and concatenates several log files so that a stack trace and its related environment or session diagnostics are reviewed and submitted together as a single crash report.
