SYNOPSIS
DESCRIPTION
beset ("Ben’s Evolutionary Shape Tool") is an experimental, evolutionary-algorithm tool that attempts to evolve a population of candidate shapes toward a target object contained in the geometry database db.g. A source model is ray sampled at the requested resolution, an initial population of individuals is spawned, and each successive generation is scored against the source using a fitness measure. The most-fit individuals of each generation are retained and combined using genetic operations (reproduction, mutation, and crossover) to produce the next generation. Progress and the most-fit individual of each generation are reported on standard output.
Both a database file db.g and a target object within it are required.
OPTIONS
- -p #
-
Population size (number of individuals per generation).
- -g #
-
Number of generations to evolve.
- -r #
-
Ray-sampling resolution used when comparing candidates against the source object.
- -u #
-
Upper percentage of individuals to keep unchanged from one generation to the next.
- -l #
-
Lower percentage of individuals to kill (discard) each generation.
- -m #
-
Mutation rate.
- -c #
-
Crossover rate.
