AP-PIX(1)

NAME

ap-pix - convert an Applicon color ink jet printer file to a pix file

On this page

SYNOPSIS

ap-pix [-v] file.ap > file.pix

DESCRIPTION

ap-pix converts an Applicon color ink jet printer image file into a pix(5) file written to standard output.

The Applicon file holds three interleaved color separations (magenta, yellow, and cyan), each offset 50 records apart within the same file. ap-pix reads the three separations in parallel and combines them into RGB pixels: a set cyan dot clears red, a set magenta dot clears green, and a set yellow dot clears blue. Each scanline is 432 bytes (3456 bits), so the resulting pix file has scanlines of 3456 pixels.

OPTIONS

-v

Verbose. Print "wrote line N" to standard error as each scanline is written.

-h, -?

Print a usage message and exit.

EXAMPLES

Example 1. Convert an Applicon file and display it
$ ap-pix image.ap > image.pix
$ pix-fb -w 3456 image.pix

Converts the Applicon file image.ap to a pix file, then displays the 3456-pixel-wide result on a framebuffer with pix-fb(1). The image width must be given explicitly because the pix format does not store dimensions.
